Every person trying out will be required to fill out a Dance Team Tryout Packet. In this packet there will be contact information, contracts for the upcoming season, teacher evaluations, and various questions you will need to answer based on your current status on the team (New Dancer, Returning Sophomore/Junior Dancer, or Returning Senior Dancer)
Pre Tryout Practice: TUESDAY, March 10th 2020 - Parkview Middle School Gym This is a OPTIONAL practice to give those who are interested the opportunity to come practice skills/technique needed for tryout week.
Tryout Week: Monday 3/16 - 6:00pm-8:30pm - AHS Small Gym Tuesday 3/17 - 6:00pm-8:30pm - AHS Small Gym Wednesday 3/18 - 6:00pm-8:30pm - AHS Small Gym During TRYOUT WEEK there will be 3 Tryout Practices. (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday) You MUST attend each of these Tryout Practices to be eligible to tryout on Friday's TRYOUT DAY. At these 3 practices you will learn a short 30-45 second Pom Routine, Jazz Routine, Kick Sequence, and various skills needed for the TRYOUT DAY. If you are unable to make it to one of these Tryout Practices you must email Coach Rodney Anderson (email@example.com) and Coach Andrew Meinel (firstname.lastname@example.org) before the first Tryout Practice to make alternate arrangements. Tryout Day Thursday 3/19 - 3:00pm-8:30pm - AHS Large Commons / AHS Small Gym or AHS Old Auditorium On TRYOUT DAY all dancers will come to Ashwaubenon High School's Small Gym and have the opportunity to practice/warm-up from 3:00pm-5:30pm. They will then be given a number and will be called in by 2's or 3's to Tryout for the Team from 5:30pm-8:00pm. The judges for our tryouts will consist of Coach Rodney Anderson, Coach Andrew Meinel, Coach Ashley Shimanek and various award winning coaches throughout the state of Wisconsin. Their final score will be based off of their performance of skills and routine, attitude during tryout practices, teacher evaluations, and tryout packet questions. All returning dancers will also be evaluated on their attitude/performance/actions from previous years they have been on the team.
Know Scheduling Conflicts with Tryout Week Monday 3/16 - Softball Practice 5:30pm-7:30pm Tuesday 3/17 - Softball Practice 5:30pm-7:30pm Tuesday 3/18 - Softball Practice 5:30pm-7:30pm Tuesday 3/19 - Softball Practice 5:30pm-7:30pm Please let us know ASAP if their are any other conflicts that you hear of, other than the ones listed above. If you are signed up for a spring sport, their practices/games/meets should be attended over our tryout days.
Posting of the New Team All Dancers will be required to leave and go home after all tryouts are complete. No one will be allowed to stay at the school for the posting of the team. The dancers that made the team will be posted ASAP that night on www.ashwaubenondanceteam.com/tryouts . Please remember that the decision of the judges/coaches are FINAL and that not every person trying out will make the team.
New Team Bonding at Smart Cow After the team has been picked and posted on the website there will be a short get together at SMART COW for those dancers that have made the team. Time will be posted on the website when the team list has been posted.
New Parent Social at Margaritas Sunday March 29th 2020 - Margaritas - 3:00pm-????? This social is for all parents of the new members to meet the returning parents. Dancers are NOT ALLOWED at this social just the parents and coaches of the 2020-2021 Ashwaubenon Jaguaress Dance Team.
MANDATORY New Team Meeting Monday March 30th 2020 - AHS Library - 6:00pm-8:00pm There will be a mandatory Parent Meeting on Monday April 8th from 6:00pm-8:00pm that at least one parent/guardian and dancer must attend. At this meeting we will discuss everything there is to know about the Ashwaubenon Jaguaress Dance Program. You will also be able to ask any question you may have about being a part of the team.
